What do I do in my spare time?
As written in the previous article, outside of classes I had a lot of free time.
So I wondered what activities I could do to kill this time and at the same time discover the country, learn the language, meet new people...
So from the very first days I decided to get involved in an association, and this for several reasons. First of all because I appreciate giving service and I like to volunteer to help a cause. Secondly, and as I said before, I wanted to discover the culture and learn the language.
100 meters from the university was the British Heart Foundation thrift shop.
One day on my way to the university I saw, hanging on a window, "Looking for volunteers". I thought about it for a few days (not too much anyway 😃) and I took the plunge.
The procedure was not very long because the following week and others I went back every Friday.
I was pleasantly surprised by the warmth of the people and their welcome. Even though I didn't have the same nationality as them, the same culture, they integrated me into their family. I was like the new girl.
When I wasn't at university or the BHF, I traveled (my next article will be devoted to this subject).
Discovering the country is really something I am passionate about, and adventures with friends are an unforgettable memory.
